Mount Shivling is a challenging 6000 meter plus peak in the Garhwal Himalayas of India .Shivling was first climbed on 3 June 1974 via the west ridge, by a team from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, led by Hukam Singh.Shivling appears as a single pyramid when seen from Gaumukh, but is actually a twin-summit mountain, with the northeast summit being slightly higher than the southwest summit, 6,501 m (21,329 ft). Between Gaumukh and Shivling lies the Tapovan meadow, a popular pilgrimage site due to its inspiring view of the mountain.’.

Our first day in Gangotri will be spent checking our equipment for Mount Satopanth, and the guides will demonstrate the workings of the equipment and how to use them.
The walk begins with gradual ascent through pine trees, alongside the roaring Bhagirathi River with towering cliffs on your left hand side. This trail keeps following the river and just short of Cheerbasa, Beyond Chirbasa the terrain becomes really desolate and barren. In fact, it has been referred to as Arctic tundra by some trekkers. We continue our walk and reach the campsite of Bhojbasa, home of birch (now only a few left in the much denuded area) and setup camp.Take an evening stroll to one of the high points close-by for better acclimatization of the body to the surroundings. We may get a chance to see a group of ibexes or capture a beautiful sunset on Bhagirathi group of peaks and take a glimpse of the majestic Shivling peak. Overnight in tents & Dinner.
After breakfast, we begin our trek to Gaumukh, the source of the River Ganga where you see holy water gushing out from the snout of Gangotri Glacier. Continue further trekking by crossing over Gangotri Glacier and final ascent to grassy meadow of Tapovan – the base camp of Mt Shivling – on the east bank of the Gangotri Glacier. Tapovan is also the base camp for climbing Expedition to the stunningly beautiful Mt Shivling (6543 M). Enjoy the amphitheatrically view of Himalayan peaks from here. Total trek about 6 hrs. Overnight in tents & Dinner.
To aid acclimatization, we spend a day in the serene surroundings of Tapovan. After a relaxed morning, we go for a short walk to gain some height and then return for a hot lunch. Overnight in tents & Dinner.
Today we load ferry from base camp to ABC and return to Base camp Tapovan, Overnight in tents & Dinner.
Today trek to ABC and set up camp here. Let your body acclimatize properly. Overnight in tents & Dinner.
Another rest day today, as the HAPs go ahead to fix the ropes while we go for a short height-gain before returning to the camp for lunch.
The technical climb starts today. After a short walk on the glacier for about an hour and half, we negotiate a rock band and then an ice gully. From here we traverse a couple of gentle humps to reach camp 1. We would be using ropes for this section and ascenders as well.

Move to Camp 3 (6200m) on a very restricted area of the where snow platforms need to be cut.
We normally start the summit attempt around midnight so we are up on the summit early enough. It depends a lot on the weather conditions on that day. All climbers will need to be well protected for the cold conditions on the summit night. Reaching the summit enjoy and cherish the mesmerizing views of the expansive Gangotri range of peaks. Make you way down and descend to Camp 2 where we spend the night.
